Background

Cuisine Lab is a Swiss restaurant that helps newly arrived refugees, by hiring them into their kitchen. Without proper funds to advertise their restaurant and catering services, they asked us for other ways to create fame and familiarity to their concept. We came up with two PR ideas – Seasoned with Human Rights and The Refugee’s Cookbook.

Seasoned with Human Rights is a line of spices that stem from conflict zones, and raise awareness about the human right’s violation occuring where the spices are harvested.

The Refugee’s Cookbook draws inspiration from the infamous Anarchist’s Cookbook, a product of counterculture and 1970s Vietnam War protest. Similar to it’s inspiration, the Refugee’s Cookbook aims to create a counterculture against refugee hate. The book tells personal stories, survival tips, DIY tricks from the refugees’ journeys, but also mixes in simple recipes of ethnic delicacies.

My role in the project:

Ideating the creative ideas in a small team with copywriters Riitta Lemberg and Waltteri Nironen.

Art directing and creating the visuals for both executions.
